Emo resident and Queen’s University student Allison Williams was among three students to receive a $25,000 fellowship from TD Insurance Meloche Monnex during a ceremony Monday night at the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education annual conference in Hamilton.
This marks the 11th year that TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, in collaboration with TD Bank Financial Group and the CCAE, have awarded these fellowships to university and college graduates who have demonstrated leadership through their work in alumni relations, fundraising and development, communications, and student recruitment.
This year’s recipients included Williams (Queen’s University), Alisha Hannam (Nova Scotia Agricultural College), and Meghan Moore (Brock University).
“TD Insurance Meloche Monnex is thrilled to champion and reward educational excellence by giving these Fellows the opportunity to jumpstart their careers,” said Jean R. Lachance, chairman, Affinity Market Group, TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, who awarded the fellowships Monday night.
“Meghan, Alisha, and Allison are an excellent representation of the next generation of leading educational advancement professionals.”
Nominated by their respective schools, the 2009 fellowship recipients–young professionals working in the field of educational advancement–receive a portion of the $25,000 as well as the opportunity to gain practical training and experience at the school.
“CCAE is grateful to TD Insurance Meloche Monnex for its support of the fellowship program for the past 11 years,” said CCAE president Frank Lockington.
“The fellowships allow young professionals to gain practical experience in educational advancement and hopefully begin a young career in this very important area.
“CCAE and its 60 member schools thank TD Insurance Meloche Monnex for its continued support of this important program.”
Since 1999, TD Insurance Meloche Monnex has awarded $825,000 to 33 students and CCAE member schools.
Of these 33 Fellows, 75 percent still are working in the field of educational advancement, which is a testament to the success of the program.
