Local provincial PC candidate Cathe Hoszowski announced this week that the vacancy left by her former campaign manager has been filled by a “seasoned politician”—Emo Reeve Russ Fortier.
Two weeks ago, Hoszowski’s “interim” campaign manager, Tannis Drysdale, resigned for personal and timing issues.
Hoszowski said she then had decided to split the position by creating co-campaign managers—one for the Kenora District and one for here in Rainy River District.
Gord Griffiths of Oxdrift, a former PC candidate himself, was named as the Kenora District manager last week.
“I have the greatest respect for his abilities and talents,” Hoszowski said of Reeve Fortier. “Russ’s political expertise and firsthand knowledge of the district and its people will help me understand and focus, first and foremost, on local riding issues.”
Fortier has been reeve of Emo since 2000 and will wear both hats for the time being.
“By supporting and managing Cathe’s campaign in the Rainy River District, I believe I am supporting tomorrow’s woman, not yesterday’s man,” Reeve Fortier said.
“We welcome Russ to the campaign manager position together with Gord Griffiths,” said Hoszowski.
“We’re hoping with these two people, we’ll be able to represent this riding that’s the size of France [effectively],” she concluded.
