Emo PeeWee girls bring home gold

The Emo Esso PeeWee girls’ hockey team showed their stuff at an annual tournament held in Kenora over the weekend. The girls played hard and it resulted in them winning the gold medal.
Making up the team were Jessie Baker, Nicole Beadle, Carlee Bosma, Kailey Curtis, Jaycey Ewald, Kaitlyn Ferris, Lauren Krukoski, Kim LaFleur, Emily Lougheed, Anikka McTavish, Taylor Meyers, Rebeka Mills, and Nickie Mosbeck.
The coaches were Mark LaFleur, Jeff McTavish, Brian Curtis, and Andrea LaFleur.
To really show Kenora and other participating teams competing in the tournament that our district is number-one, the Pinewood Blades (Fort Frances) brought home the gold medal in the Bantam division.
Local kids making up that team include Brittney Galusha, DeAnna Saunders, and Kelsey McLean. Congratulations to you all!

The annual Devlin-La Vallee community dinner is slated for Sunday, Dec. 14 starting at 2 p.m. Bring your sleds, playing cards, board games, etc. There also will be a visit from Santa.
Hopefully, the snow will still be here and some horse-drawn sleigh rides can take place.
High school students can work at this event to put towards their 40 hours of community service needed to graduate.
Be sure to mark this date on your calendar. It’s a great day to put you in the holiday spirit.

Robin’s 2¢:
When you’ve had a rough day, here’s a stress management technique that really works . . .
1. Picture yourself near a stream.
2. Birds are softly chirping in the cool mountain air.
3. No one but you knows your secret place.
4. You are in total seclusion from the hectic place called “the world.”
5. The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade of serenity.
6. The water is crystal clear.
7. You can easily make out the face of the person you’re holding
under water.
See! You’re smiling already.
