The Emo Library celebrated the return of their Teddy Bear Picnic yesterday, July 7, bringing back a much-loved event that has been missing in action for several years. The weather definitely cooperated and the Lion’s Park was the perfect location for the whole family to enjoy the day’s festivities.

The children enjoyed the many activities including stories, crafts, bingo, teddy bear adoption, and a first aid station to fix the teddy bears boo-boos, a scavenger hunt, plus numerous other activities.

Emo Public Library summer student Mayelle Greenier, left, Harper Kellar and Arianna Heyens were all smiles as they and their teddy bears enjoyed the library’s Teddy Bear Picnic, which ran from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. yesterday. There was a sun safety activity with UV beads and a hydration station of infused water set up for all visitors, courtesy of the Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU). The UV beads bracelet making event was the favourite of many children attending the picnic. The treat bags for the children and for their bears was also a big hit.

The splash pad was thoroughly enjoyed as a means to cool down for those that got too warm.

Over twenty children and parents attended the Teddy Bear Picnic. This successful event was made by the Emo Early ON Centre and the Emo Public Library, with support from the Northwest Health Unit (Debbie Degroot) and a local volunteer Lori Wilson.

Hats off the all that contributed to this successful event. I’m sure those attending are already hoping for next years Teddy Bear Picnic!
