The Emo Environmental Advisory Committee held its first meeting this past week.
In the months ahead, the committee wants to encourage more residents to take part in the recycling program, as well as expand the program to include items such as computers, compact fluorescent bulbs, and other toxic items.
The committee’s mandate, from the municipal council, is to decrease the amount of waste that enters the local landfill. One method being investigated is an in-vessel mechanical compost machine.
Watch for an environmental newsletter, with tips on the three R’s: reducing, reusing, and recycling.
