Emo Legion resumes events

Robin McCormick

The Emo Legion Branch #99 is resuming events this week. Thursday, Friday and Saturday (September 3-5) the clubroom will be open at 3 p.m.
Friday September 11, the always popular Beer and Burger for $5.00 starts up.
It’s great to see this establishment start services again. I’m sure all people involved with this will be taking all precautions necessary regarding COVID-19.
Crossroads School will definitely notice a missing staff member.
Lisa Ruppenstein, after 14 years as the school secretary, has taken a position at the Fort Frances High School. Lisa will be working in the guidance department in her new role.
Lisa has many fond memories of Crossroads, both with staff and students. She laughed as she told me she felt her role as secretary was not filled near as well as her role with the students.
She has seen many changes take place at Crossroads. Leaving was a huge decision and she will always think of Crossroads as her “second family.”
I know Lisa will be greatly missed at the school as I’ve seen her in action there. All kinds of demands on her … and always done with a smile. All the best in your new position. You may be gone from Crossroads but you’ll never be forgotten by staff, students and the community involved with Crossroads.
Congratulations to Teanna Silander and Adam Bakker on their marriage. The couple were wed on August 29 at a beautiful wedding in Thunder Bay.
Grandma Carol Booth, Scott and Brook, Allison, Linda, Neila and five nieces and nephews from the Booth family attended the wedding. Quinn was the flower girl and Jackson the ring bearer. This was Carol’s first grandchild to get married, making it extra special.
It was a beautiful, meaning day, and the presence of Teanna’s mother Andrea was definitely felt by many. Teanna grew up in La Vallee.
Sympathy to the family and friends of Frank Szedar Sr. Your community sends you sympathy and prayers at this sad time.
Rob Brandrick has recently accepted the job as the La Vallee Municipality landfill attendant.
Home warming wishes to Shelby Rea and Brandon Marr on their new home the couple have purchased a home from Kaylee and Dan Veldheisen. The Veldheisens will be relocating to a home on Rainy Lake. The home purchased by Brandon and Shelby is the original home built by Carl Schaum.
