Emo health centre to hold grand opening

The newly-developed Emo Health Centre is truly a centre for health care services, and the public is invited to come out and see it firsthand at its grand opening next Wednesday (June 27) from 2-4 p.m.
Wayne Woods, CEO of Riverside Health Care Facilities Inc., will be the master of ceremonies for the occasion, which will include a ribbon-cutting at 2:30 p.m., room dedications, a tribute to the late Dr. John O’Sullivan, and the unveiling of the donor wall there.
Members of the Emo Hospital Auxiliary will serve refreshments afterwards.
“The timeline was tight to complete the project but we did it and are very satisfied with the results,” noted Woods.
With the Emo CLinic, Dental CLinic, Nothwestern Health Unit, and Community Care Access Centre all occupying space on the basement level, and the services provided by Riverside, including radiology, Valley Diabetes, dietitian services, chiropody, community counselling and urgent care, the Emo Health Centre definitely provides area residents with one-stop shopping for health care services.
The long-term care wing is a beautiful addition that provides 20 lovely resident rooms as well as a dining room, lounge, and activity centre. The small details also are very apparent, like the glass cases outside each resident’s room where pictures and memorabilia can be displayed.
“They’re wonderful for the long-term care residents,” noted nurse manager Edith Bodnar.
“One of our residents displays a book of poems that she authored and there are plenty of family pictures,” she added. “There is definitely a lot of history within these rooms.”
Added features to the hospital include a front terrace, a family room/waiting area, as well as a pleasant and comfortable quiet room available for family members and friends who need to stay close by loved ones while they are in the hospital.
