On Tuesday, May 12, the Emo Devlin 4-H Beef Club met for their first meeting.
The meeting was held at Ontario Crops Research Centre and began at 7 p.m. The club recited the pledge and welcomed our returning and joining members. Everyone began introducing themselves, as well as their 4-H project(s).
We next ran our elections for the club executive positions. Members elected Kinley Gross as our President, Mason Teeple as Vice-President, Ryker Chartier as secretary, and Aynsley Teeple as Press Reporter. Youth leader Aynsley ran an icebreaker activity called, “Two Truths and a Lie.”
Next, members each shared what they hope to learn about this year. The most popular topics were feed and nutrition, and artificial insemination in cattle. In relation to the feed and nutrition topic, each member shared how much, and what kind of feed their animals are being fed. To conclude our first meeting, Aynsley organized a skill building game of “Line it Up.” The club was given a series of scenarios and had to form a line with and without communicating. It was a great way to form friendships and break the ice within the club.
Our next meeting will be held on May 25, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Cornell Farms where Dr. Rebecca will introduce us to the process of artificial insemination. Kinley adjourned the meeting at 8:31pm. Cookies and juice was provided by Susan Irvine; it was a great first meeting!
