Emo council treated to carpet bowling

A challenge was issued last year to Emo council to a friendly game of carpet bowling at Wheels to Meals.
Well, council was victorious, which was not overlooked by the seniors, so another set of games was arranged for last Thursday. Council had some new members added but almost the same group of seniors eagerly awaited the re-match.
Reeve Russ Fortier led the council team, including Brenda Cooke, Bridget Beck, and Harriet Sheloff against the seniors’ quartet, which included retired Maurice MacMillan, a resident at the Golden Age Manor.
In the first set, council moved ahead 3-1, then tied the second set, but were outrolled by the seniors 5-2 in the third set, giving the older players a narrow one-point victory.
But, it was all for fun and exercise, of course!
Pianist Iris Howard supplied the musical entertainment. Then during the luncheon afterwards, Wheels to Meals co-ordinator Wendy Strom handed out appreciative gifts, mostly plants.
She also thanked the council for coming out and being so supportive to the group.
A big thank you to the kitchen staff—Lois Shine, Jacqui Hunsperger, and Adelia Guba—for preparing the luncheons, and to Donna Morrish for keeping score during the carpet bowling games.
“The group will begin their new schedule of events in September,” noted Morrish.
MacMillan had a few words of encouragement, saying how well he enjoyed coming out each Thursday to mingle with other seniors.
Strom thanked everyone for their faithfulness in attending and making the Wheels to Meals program work so smoothly.
