Emo, Chapple hosting museum network

Press Release

May is Museum Month, with area museums gathering to share insights, develop regional initiatives, and explore the heritage of the Rainy River Valley.
Our local museums belong to a regional association called the Sunset Museums Network.
This group meets twice a year in various locations to network, provide professional development opportunities, and develop regional initiatives.
From Red Lake to Atikokan, Dryden and Sioux Lookout to Kenora, Emo, Chapple, and Fort Frances, the network represents the vast heritage institutions in our area.
This year, Emo and Chapple are hosting the network, with guests from the Ministry of Culture, including Dr. John Carter, the regional museums advisor from Toronto.
Special presenters and participants also include Jeremy Mohr, records analyst/archivist with the City of Thunder Bay Archives, and Michel S. Beaulieu, assistant professor of history at Lakehead University.
He’s also co-director of the Lakehead Social History Institute, and chair of the Northern Studies Program Committee and the Northwestern Ontario History Network.
There also will be an opportunity to learn more about our local museums and the resources they offer to our communities.
Join the Sunset Museums Network on Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Emo Curling Club to find out how the keep your family treasures.
