Spring is finally in the air, and one Fort Frances resident has an extra reason to find joy in the season as Riverside Health Care reveals the winner of the Early Bird winner for this month’s 50/50 fundraiser draw.

According to a press release issued by Riverside on March 23, last week’s Early Bird draw saw Kathryn Smeeth of Fort Frances bring home the $1,000 prize.

Riverside Health Care Director of Fundraising Holly Kaemingh said the win, along with every ticket purchased, is helping drive momentum for the organization’s Lights, Camera, Diagnosis! campaign, which is working to provide advanced diagnostic imaging equipment for the region by bringing upgraded digital X-ray equipment to La Verendrye General Hospital and the Rainy River Health Centre, as well as purchasing the district’s first MRI machine. Fifty percent of the proceeds of the 50/50 tickets go back to the lucky winner, with the rest helping to provide high quality diagnostic imaging close to home.

“With every ticket, you have the chance to win, and the opportunity to give back,” Kaemingh said.

“It’s a win-win for our community, helping us invest in the future of health care across the district.”

Tickets for the March draw are still available for purchase online at www.rhc5050.com, by stopping in at the La Verendrye General Hospital Administration Office Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., by calling 807-274-6635, or by visiting the in-person ticket table every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside the Main Entrance of La Verendrye General Hospital off Front Street.

“This is more than a chance to win – it’s a way to be part of transforming health care across the Rainy

River District,” Riverside said in their release.

“With every ticket, you’re helping bring advanced diagnostic technology closer to home, reducing the need for travel and ensuring patients and families can access the care they need, right here in their own community.”
