Drug trafficking charges laid in Sioux Lookout

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Members of the Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid drug trafficking charges following an occurrence at a local hotel.
On Thursday afternoon, May 21st, 2020, officers from the Sioux Lookout OPP responded to a report of unwanted parties at a local hotel. Police investigation led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine, suboxone, gabapentin, methylphenidate, and hydromorphone, with an estimated street value of over $25,000.
As a result of this investigation, 34 year-old woman and a 28 year-old man, both from Sachigo Lake First Nation, have been charged with the following offences contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:
-Possession of a Schedule Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – eight counts,
-Possession of a Schedule Substance – eight counts.
The co-accused are being held in custody pending bail hearings.
