Members of the Community Drug Action Team and Rainy River District OPP have concluded several drug investigations resulting in charges being laid.
On Aug. 22, the Fort Frances CDAT, with the help from the North West Region Crime Unit, charged one adult male with production of marijuana after police eradicated 20 marihuana plants and seized 32 grams of marijuana from the La Vallee Township area.
On Aug. 23, a Fort Frances adult male was arrested and charged with trafficking a Schedule I drug (Oxycodone) and possessing a Schedule I drug (Oxycodone) for the purpose of trafficking.
During the investigation, police seized 44 Oxycodone tablets and $400 in cash.
On Aug. 26, an adult female was arrested in Fort Frances and charged for possession of a Schedule I drug when officers seized 22 Oxycodone tablets.
On Aug. 27, an adult male was arrested in Fort Frances and charged with possession of a Schedule I drug (Oxycodone) and possession of a Schedule II drug (marijuana) after police seized 15 Oxycodone tablets and a small quantity of marijuana.
And on Sept. 6, a Thunder Bay male travelling to Fort Frances was intercepted on Highway 11 at Couchiching First Nation after police learned he was travelling to Rainy River District to sell drugs.
Police charged the adult male with trafficking and possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance after seizing 126 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
He also was charged with possession of property obtained by crime for the $935 in cash seized during the investigation.
Further to that, he was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon when police seized a butterfly knife, which is considered to be a prohibited weapon under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Police remind the public that reporting drug information to police through Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-TIPS) is anonymous and helpful in solving drug-related crimes.
