Five people are facing drug charges following two simultaneous search warrants conducted at two separate residences on Couchiching First Nation on Wednesday.
Police seized various quantities of hydro morphine, Oxycodone, dilaudid, and cannabis marijuana, with an estimated street value of about $12,000.
Officers also confiscated drug paraphernalia, evidence of drug trafficking, and roughly $5,000 in drug-related proceeds.
As a result, a 43-year-old male and four females aged 22, 26, 41, and 44, all from Couchiching, were arrested.
They each were charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (dilaudid, Oxycodone, hydro morphine, and marijuana), as well as possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The raids stemmed from increased community concerns regarding the sale of illegal substances.
Members of the Treaty #3 Police Service were assisted by several OPP units, including the Fort Frances OPP.
The public is asked to contact the Treaty #3 Police Service with any information regarding the sale of controlled illegal substances.
