Truck traffic had to be rerouted through town yesterday, after Hwy. 17 was closed following a fatal tractor trailer collision at Docker Township, around eight kilomteres west of Vermilion Bay.
The Dryden detachment of Ontario Provincial Police reported that at 5:10 a.m. yesterday, an eastbound tractor trailer unit collided with a westbound tractor trailer unit on Hwy. 17
Both vehicles were totally destroyed by the collision and subsequent fire. Neither driver survived the fire, said police.
The identity of both drivers is being withheld pending notification of the next-of-kin.
Members of the Dryden OPP and Vermilion Bay Fire Service attended the scene. The police investigation is continuing.
