Driver facing charges

On Tuesday at 8:30 p.m., Rainy River District OPP officers observed a driver fail to stop for a red light in Fort Frances.
Officers then conducted a traffic stop on the 1000 block of King’s Highway in town.
After the driver, a 54-year-old La Vallee Township man, failed the roadside test, he was arrested and taken to OPP detachment for breath tests.
The vehicle also was towed from the scene and impounded for the mandatory seven days.
The driver subsequently was charged with having care or control of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg.
He also was charged with numerous Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act offences.
He is to appear in court here March 26.
