Donaldson elected reeve of La Vallee

Robin McCormick

The municipal election held Monday in La Vallee saw some changes as well as some positions staying the same.
After the final votes were counted, Ross Donaldson was elected reeve over Ken McKinnon.
Returning to council are Jim Belluz and Freeda Carmody while new to council are Dennis Allen and Darcy Robson.
Meanwhile, Ralph Hill was elected as the public school board trustee for the La Vallee area.
Congratulations to all who won seats Monday night.

In conjunction with Hallowe’en, Crossroads students and their families will be asking for donations of non-perishable food items along with their candy this Sunday (Oct. 31).
Items can be dropped off at the school until 9 p.m. on Sunday and until 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1, which, in turn, will be donated to several of the local food banks.
Why participate in the “Hallowe’en for Hunger” food drive? Statistics show one-in-six Canadian children do not have enough food to eat, warm clothes to wear, or a safe place to live.
More than 840,000 Canadians use the food banks every month, with 39.7 percent of the users being children.
By participating, you can make a difference!
Most importantly, we are providing our children with an opportunity to assume active leadership roles.

Robin’s 2¢:
Marriage is like a deck of cards.
In the beginning, all you need is two hearts and a diamond.
By the end, you’ll wish you had a club and a spade.
