District man arrested for making threats

Members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Aug. 24 were called to investigate an accusation of threats involving the use of a firearm.
The Rainy River District Crime unit as well as the Northwest Region (NWR) Emergency Response Team (ERT) conducted an investigation including the execution of a warrant in Morley Township.
As a result of the investigation and evidence gained by the warrant, a 65-year-old man has been charged criminally with:
•one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
•one count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm;
•one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
He will appear in court Oct. 30, 2019 to answer to these charges.
