District Gideons present praise festival

The Fort Frances/Rainy River Gideons’ Camps presented their Festival of Praise last Tuesday evening (April 29) at the Christian Reformed Church in Emo, with an enthusiastic audience on hand.
The message brought forth was “Take the Whole Gospel to the Whole World.”
The welcome was given by Don Ricci, and the worship music was led by Clem Lehmann, (drums) Derek Enns (guitar), Debbie Friesen (piano), and Caitlyn Dyck (vocalist) in selected hymns and choruses.
A scripture reading was done by Sonny Ferris, he also reiterated on his recent successful battle with cancer. It was a great testimony to hear.
Special music was provided by the duet of Heidi Gerber and Dorothy Quibell in “I Am His and He is Mine.” Quibell also sang a solo entitled, “Find Us Faithful,” accompanied by pianist Marina Gerber.
A testimony video then was shown, which was inspirational and exciting to see how God works in lives.
Guest speaker Ike Reimer of Gideons International in Canada, and field director in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario, spoke on the work Gideons accomplish in distributing Bibles throughout the world.
They are in 177 countries, with 239,000 volunteers involved.
Over their first 90 years in existence, Gideons distributed five million Bibles. In the last 10, they’ve distributed that same amount. Gideons daily distribute thousands of Bibles and literature concerning the gospel.
Gordon Armstrong of Rainy River introduced the speaker, who has been here before so it was like coming to a home away from home for Reimer.
Olive Friesen introduced the Bible Plan. There were different kinds of cards for different occasions, which she explained to the audience. The closing prayer was given by Phil Friesen.
Fellowship and refreshments followed.
