Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies only

Around 10 a.m. on Friday, Fort Frances OPP officers responded to a 9-1-1 call for service at a residence located on the 100 block of Fourth Street West.
An investigation revealed the caller had dialed the emergency number as a hoax and did not require police assistance.
As a result, a 22-year-old Fort Frances woman was arrested and charged with public mischief. She was released from custody and will appear in court June 6.
The OPP would like to remind the public that 9-1-1 should only be dialed for emergent situations, and that falsely dialing this number could pose a risk to the public as well as emergency services personnel.
In other news, Fort Frances OPP investigated a disturbance that took place in the 900 block of Smith Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. on Friday.
As a result of that investigation, police charged a 17-year-old youth with assault with a weapon.
The youth, who cannot be identified, was held in custody and will appear in court at a later date.
