Devlin tea set to go

The United Church ladies will prepare their best dainties and sandwiches for their annual spring tea this Sunday (May 6) from 2-4 p.m. at the Devlin Hall.
A bake sale, crafts, and auction also will add to the fun.
Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children five and under. Be sure to make this part of your Sunday!

A wedding social will be held for Dale Jerry and Tara Anderson this Friday (May 4) from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Devlin Hall. Music by Top Music Productions, and a midnight lunch will be available.
Tickets cost $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Age of majority required.

A reminder that the Crossroads rink committee once again is hosting its annual fish fry on Sunday, May 13 (Mother’s Day). It will feature fish, salads, desserts, and much more.
The cost is $13 for adults and $6 for those aged six-12 (kids five and under are free), with proceeds to assist the Crossroads rink.
This event is always a great way to treat Mom on her special day.

Last Wednesday’s card party at the Emo Legion was won by Gerald and Lorraine Bullied while the low went to Judy Kozenchenko and Ester Elias.
Darlene Bruce won the draw.
A reminder an old-time dance will be held this Saturday (May 5) at the Emo Legion, with the next bingo there coming up next Tuesday (May 8).

Several Devlin T.O.P.S. members attended the annual recognition day in Dryden over the weekend. Receiving honours for reaching their K.O.P.S. (Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) this year were Deb Connon, Joanne Woodgate, Carol Booth, and Linda Gill.
Freeda Carmody was honoured with her 15-year KOPS award.
Many other T.O.P.S. members from Rainy River district attended this event.

A 4-H auction will be held Saturday, May 25 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Emo fairgrounds. This is the same weekend as the annual Emo Walleye Classic.

A St. Patrick’s spring tea and bake sale is planned for Saturday, May 12 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the church in Emo. Admission is $2, and there will be all kinds of draws, baking, crafts, etc.
This is a fundraiser for the St. Patrick’s Women’s League.

Spring brings slo-pitch. As such, there will be a work bee at the Devlin ball diamond on Saturday, May 12 beginning at 9 a.m.
The season gets underway Monday, May 14.

La Vallee is now accepting applications for summer student labourers. Duties will include cemetery mowing, ballpark mowing, landfill site clean-up, and building maintenance.
A driver’s licence will be considered an asset and applicants must be at least 15 years old.
Application forms can be picked up at the municipal office during office hours and must be submitted no later than noon on Friday, May 4. The anticipated start date is the week of June 25.

Crossroads School will be hosting a Pow-Wow on May 25.
In other school news, Crossroads students will be travelling to Donald Young School in Emo for a chess tournament on May 11.
