Rainy River District hosted T.O.P.S. Annual Recognition Days this year, with the event being held at La Place Rendez-Vous in Fort Frances.
T.O.P.S. chapters from throughout our district helped make this event a huge success, with the Devlin TOPS club doing a great deal to help out.
Freeda Carmody, Marie Saunders, and Trudy Badiuk (from Devlin), along with Lorrayne Muloin (Fort Frances), were the planning committee throughout the past year to make this event a smooth running, inspirational affair.
Hats off to these four for their many hours of work.
About 255 T.O.P.S. members sang, visited, danced, and, most importantly, were inspired to “be the best you can be.” Some 31 chapters were present at this event.
The music of Renee Martin-Brown filled the room with sweet music. Meanwhile, Liz Donaldson motivated the crowd with her inspirational speech on Sunday afternoon (she had everyone laughing and crying as only she can do).
The Devlin chapter placed first with their banner that displayed the theme for the weekend, “Mystical Moments, Magical Times.”
Bobbi Morken saw to it that the entertainment part of the evening was full of laughs. The Devlin group did a play based on the movie “Shrek”—and all the members present strutted their stuff.
Leona Carlson, Shawn and Connie McRitchie deserve honourable mention for their costumes, plus making the banner.
The highlight of the weekend was the awards presentation and the Devlin #ON3019 club excelled in that department.
Northwestern Ontario Queen was taken by Brenda Allan while runner-up was Jeannine Shine. Neila Booth was reinstated into K.O.P.S., with four graduating K.O.P.S. being Brenda Allan, Jeannine Shine, Becki Chabot, and yours truly (Robin McCormick)
Bobbi Morken was honoured with a pendant for her five-year K.O.P.S. status.
Two 50/50 draws were won by T.O.P.S. members Leona Carlson and Brenda Allan.
The Devlin club also placed third overall for the highest weight loss per member through the year!
We sadly said good-bye to Marie Saunders as Northwestern area captain. She has held this title for many years and will be sadly missed.
All in all it was a great weekend.
Feel free to join Devlin T.O.P.S. If you need motivation to lose weight, the club meets every Monday at 7 p.m. at Crossroads School in Devlin.
Thanks from T.O.P.S. to the many, many merchants who so generously donated gifts to the raffle.

Crossroads students and teachers all spent a great day at Northwest Bay on Friday enjoying a pow-wow.
Great dancing was displayed and the food was great. Thank you to all who worked hard to put this educational fun day on.

Robin’s 2¢:
Question: How do you make a sweet little old lady swear?
Answer: Have another little old lady yell Bingo!
