With the upcoming closure of the Fort Frances Daycare Centre, the Fort Frances Senior Centre board of management is exploring the possibility of relocating to that facility.
At the Senior Fair on June 6, we took the opportunity to survey the participants. A total of 78 people responded.
We asked them what they liked about our current facility. Just under half of them cited location as a positive thing.
They also enjoyed the programming, friendly staff, and fellowship.
However, when asked what the issues with the current facility were, they felt that the current facility was too small, it has poor acoustics, and minimal parking.
Many stated that they would like to see more programming but understood that the size was a detriment to that.
When asked what they saw as an advantage to relocating to the daycare, the top answers were; more space, more parking, and the ability to have more programming because there is room separation.
The disadvantage, of course, was location.
We also found it interesting that of the 78 surveyed, half of them drove to the Senior Fair and another quarter of them rode with a friend.
Another interesting bit of information that we garnered from the surveys was that some people couldn’t provide answers to the questions because they had never been inside the daycare, and didn’t really know what it looked like.
For that reason, the board agreed that we should have an open house to allow the public to come take a look.
Once again, we a looking for public input.
If you are 55 or older, or even if you are a potential future user of the Senior Centre, we encourage you to come to the Fort Frances Daycare on Saturday, Oct. 5 between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m.
