More than 190 students, staff, and volunteers from Crossroads School in Devlin hit the road last Thursday for their annual Terry Fox Run.
Almost everyone involved completed the five-km route under cool but sunny skies to raise money for cancer research.
Crossroads secretary Kathy Pruys said the goal this year was to raise $3,000. But while they came up short, she still considered it a noble effort—especially considering the school’s small size.
“I think we made a good effort for a small country school,” Pruys said Monday, noting their tally constituted about a quarter of the amount raised Sunday during the actual Terry Fox Run in Fort Frances.
The final tally raised by Crossroads was not available by press time Tuesday night, nor was the name of the student who raised the most individually. But that students will be honoured at a special assembly this Friday at 9 a.m. in the school gym and presented with a T-shirt.
In the five years in which Crossroads has been holding its own Terry Fox Run, the school has raised more than $11,000 for cancer research.
