Crazy weather at this time of year

They say Canadians spend hours talking about our weather conditions–it is any wonder?
Where else can you pick lilacs, cut rhubarb, and be slapped in the face with snow while you’re doing it!

The first week of Devlin slo-pitch schedule has been played and here are the results:
Monday saw Blue Zones beating Variety Pack, Tuesday’s game was rained out, Upnorth over River Rats on Wednesday, and Brew Jays won against Village People on Thursday.
Games are scheduled for this week–perhaps being played with snowballs.

The annual Emo Fair queen pageant is beginning to be organized for the fair in August.
If you have any questions or are interested in being a contestant, give Debbie Carlson a call at 482-1036.
The Devlin United Church is holding a “walkathon” following the Sunday service. If you would like to sponsor a walker, this would be appreciated.
Monies raised are to help Sunday School purchase crayons, glue, etc. for their classes, as well as perhaps for outings with the children.
A lunch will be served after.

The 4-H exchange club is holding a garage sale at the farmers’ market this Saturday (May 26) from 8 a.m. until noon.
This is a fundraiser to help cover costs for the exchange program that’s taking place through the summer.
In July, district kids are travelling to Quebec and in return, 11 kids will be coming to Rainy River District in August.

Sympathy is extended to all family and friends of Larry Rose. The community is thinking of you at this sad time.

The Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society is holding a beautification competition for this year’s fall fair. Many businesses are co-sponsors of this competition.
