A Fort Frances couple was killed in a two-vehicle collision that occurred late yesterday afternoon on Highway 11 between Reef Point Road and the Windy Point bridge.
Police identified the driver as David Chambers, 82, and the passenger as Louise Chambers, 75.
The collision involved a westbound Chrysler PT Cruiser and an eastbound logging truck around 4:40 p.m.
The cause remains under investigation.
Police said the female passenger of the automobile died at the scene.
The driver was transported by ambulance to La Verendrye Hospital here but succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the logging truck was not injured, police said.
A post-mortem examination was scheduled to take place this afternoon.
Highway 11 was re-opened to both lanes as of press time, but police expected to have to close it at some point today to remove the truck.
Officers remain on scene and are requesting motorists to proceed with caution to ensure the safety of those still working there.
