Couple celebrates 50th anniversary

Robin McCormick

Congratulations to Marilyn and Ken McKinnon, who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past Saturday (May 14).
A party was held in their honour at the Fort Frances Curling Club, which drew a “full house” of family, friends, and the many people who have been part of the couple’s lives.
Your community wishes you many more happy years together!

Please allow me to make a correction regarding the annual Devlin T.O.P.S. Salad Supper.
I wrote last week that the date for this event was Monday, May 23 when, in fact, it will take place on Monday, May 30 at the Devlin Hall.
The doors open at 5 p.m., with the meal being served at 6 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids aged six-12 (those five and under eat free).
Be sure to come out for a delicious meal plus an evening of visiting.
My apologies for the date mix-up.

The 10th-annual Emo Walleye Classic runs May 26-28 and, as always, there are many activities and events taking place throughout the weekend.
These include the “Emo Walleyedol” (for ages 14 and over) and “Minnow-idol” (ages eight-13) singing contests, which are scheduled for next Friday (May 27) beginning at 6:30 p.m.
More than $1,000 in prizes will be up for grabs, but only the first 15 contestants will be accepted.
Registration forms can be picked up at the Village Variety in Emo or by calling Laurel Mose at 482-1426.

Kayla Chartier (Caul) and infant son, Rustin, were honoured with an enjoyable (and well-attended) baby shower this past Sunday afternoon, which was held at Kayla and Ray’s beautifully remodelled home.
Everyone has a great afternoon “showering” the baby with gifts and, of course, attention.

Sympathy is extended to the many family and friends of Val Carrier, who passed away last Wednesday.
Val was a caring person who always had a kind word and smile.
She will be sadly missed by many.
