‘Country Jam’ set to resume

The “Country Jam” is starting up again this Friday (Jan. 12) at the Emo Legion, with the musicians to start playing around 7 p.m.
Organizers are looking for musicians so if you play or love to sing, please consider coming out on Friday.
If you have equipment (an amp, mic, etc.), please bring it with you.
Meanwhile, if you enjoy old-time country music and if you like to dance, bring a friend and come out for an evening of entertainment and fun.
The kitchen staff will cook you some snack food and the bar will be open for some refreshments.
For only a toonie, you can have a fantastic time with friends from all over the district.

Thanks to everyone who donated to the Emo and District Lions Club members who participated in the “Polar Plunge” on Jan. 1 in Fort Frances.
Although it was somewhat cold, the enthusiastic jumpers enjoyed themselves and raised some money for their favourite charities.
In related news, the Emo and District Lions will be holding their annual grocery raffle during the winter months, with the draw to take place during Emo’s Spring Fever Days.
In the meantime, Lions from all over Northwestern Ontario and northern Minnesota will be attending their annual Mid-winter Convention this month.
While at the convention in Dryden, the clubs will be using the funds they’ve raised to donate to many of the charities they support in Canada and the U.S.

Calling all Legion Br. #99 members!
The Legion is having its annual elections this Thursday (Jan. 11) at 7 p.m. at the Legion!
A few executive positions are opening up so if you think you might like to join the executive, or show support for others who may, come to the meeting!
Br. #99 does a lot for the community and district. This is your chance to give back.

In related news, weekly Bingo already has resumed at the Emo Legion while seniors’ carpet bowling will take place every Thursday.
The beer-and-burger night will continue to run every Friday until further notice (there will not be one on Friday, Jan. 19 due to a banquet).
