On Saturday around 8:45 p.m., Red Lake OPP officers were dispatched for the second time that evening to a noise complaint at a residence there.
Upon arrival, officers were refused entry by the female inside the residence, who advised the officers that she had consumed an unknown quantity of medication.
Concerned for her safety, the officers breached the door of the residence.
An altercation between the female and the police took place, and a firearm was discharged by police.
The female was taken to hospital and treated for an injury.
Two officers were transported to hospital and subsequently released.
The OPP has notified the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate.
