‘Cookie Club’ set to start up

It’s called the “Cookie of the Month” club, but twins Michelle Cain and Nicole Thomson of “Doubly Delicious” say it’s a different kind of club.
“It’s not exclusive and it doesn’t require any sort of membership fees,” Cain noted.
“Just order and pay for your cookies, and receive two dozen cookies delivered right to your door.”
The cost is $10 a month (a savings of $6) and people can pick and choose which months, or month, they’d like.
“You don’t have to get consecutive months and you don’t need to start it up in January,” explained Thomson, saying they’ll be taking orders all year.
“This is a great idea for Christmas gifts, birthdays, teacher gifts, or just because,” she added, noting they already have taken orders for people who just want the cookies for themselves.
Cain said she got the idea for a “Cookie of the Month” club while searching online for Christmas gift ideas.
“I like to bake and I thought it sounded like a great idea for family and friends,” she reasoned.
“Then I thought, why not for the business? We don’t have anything like that around here and it would get the community involved.”
If the cookies are for a gift for someone, the person placing the order will receive a gift card to provide to the recipient welcoming them to the “Cookie of the Month” club.
The recipient will receive two kinds of cookies—one dozen of each—for every month ordered.
“If you just want a sample, order for a month or two and reorder as you wish,” Thomson suggested.
They noted payment is required before the first month’s delivery.
Delivery dates will be the first weekend of each month, and people can choose to have the cookies delivered to the recipient’s home or workplace.
Delivery is free within Fort Frances.
Cain said “Doubly Delicious,” which has been focused on cupcakes of late, was ready to expand.
“Cookies are more versatile,” she explained, adding they are willing to do cookies for meetings, open houses, and other events.
After receiving a Martha Stewart cookie book last year, the twins began to consider adding cookies to the business. But it wasn’t until the idea of the “Cookie of the Month” club that they decided to go for it.
The “club” allows the pair to bake in bulk—baking just two kinds of cookies each month.
They noted people ordering through the “Cookie of the Month” club will not be able to choose the flavours of the cookies they receive.
Cookie flavours are predetermined by “Doubly Delicious.” However, nut-free options are available upon request.
“That’s why they get the $6 discount,” Cain noted, citing customized orders cost $16 for two dozen.
The sisters have a large variety of flavours on their list—from the classics such as chocolate chip, oatmeal, and gingersnaps to the “choco-holics” such as chocolate macaroons and chocolate mint, just to name a few.
They also have some “family favourites,” including one called “Betty Mae,” a melt-in-your-mouth oatmeal/coconut cookie, and a yummy molasses cookie, as well as their “premium” flavours, such as white chocolate chip macadamia nut and butterscotch pecan.
“And we’ll still be keeping our eyes open for new recipes,” Thomson pledged.
Cain and Thomson also feel the cost of the “Cookie of the Month” club is reasonable.
“The pricing we found online for other ‘Cookie of the Month’ clubs ranged anywhere from $20 to $65 for two dozen cookies,” Thomson noted.
“We felt that being in a small town, we wanted a more realistic price.”
“We’ve received a lot of positive comments so far,” Cain enthused. “We’re really excited to give it a try.”
Both women love to bake, and they feel the “Cookie of the Month” club will allow them to do what the love in an efficient way.
“Who wouldn’t want fresh, homemade cookies delivered right to your door?” Thomson asked.
“We’ve always believed that homemade cookies are much better than store-bought ones, and we hope other people also feel the same way,” added Cain.
