Contraband tobacco siezed in Dryden

(DRYDEN, ON) – A routine traffic stop has resulted in Contraband tobacco charges for three individuals.

On May 26, at approximately 5:40 p.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial (OPP) Dryden Detachment with the assistance of officers from the Kenora Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17, Docker Township (West of Vermillion Bay) for a highway traffic act violation.

As a result of the traffic stop, officers located and seized 41 cases of unmarked cigarettes with an estimated value of $164,000.

A 22 year-old woman and 50 year-old man from Saskatoon and a 27 year-old woman from Thornhill Ont. have been charged with Trafficking in Contraband Tobacco. All three accused were released on an Appearance Notice and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 10.
