Consultant aims to boost businesses

Consultant Roy Prevost will be in the district next week not only to deliver a workshop on “Creating Customer Loyalty” on Tuesday at the Rainy River Legion Hall, but to do individual sessions with businesses.
Angela Halvorsen, business investment officer with the Rainy River Future Development Corp., said Monday that four businesses have signed up so far to have Prevost help them develop strategies for success.
But she added those who contact her as soon as possible may be able to get Prevost to give them a consultation at their business next Tuesday or Wednesday, too.
If your business, which must be located in the district, is interested, contact the RRFDC at 274-5484. This consultation costs $150.
You then will be contacted by Prevost, who will ask for a general description of your business, who your ideal client is, how you currently market your business, whether or not your sales are increasing every year or remaining flat, and where you want your business to be in five years.
He’ll then visit your business for about 90 minutes, giving you hands-on advice to help map out a strategy to attract new customers, sell more to existing customers, make cosmetic changes to your retail store to better serve your customers, partner with other businesses to increase your business, and increase revenue using “bumps,” “up-sells,” and cross-sells.”
Prevost then will do a follow-up with each business 30 days after the session to make sure they’re on track.
Prevost, who was in Fort Frances last October to give a talk on competing with “big box” retailers, also will be holding an evening workshop this coming Tuesday (April 13) at 6:30 p.m. at the Rainy River Legion.
Cost is $30 per business (two guests each), and is free for paid up members of the Rainy River Chamber of Commerce. A snack and refreshments will be served.
Prevost has a keen view of trends in the corporate culture, and offers a “hands-on” strategy to prepare businesses for the next level of customer service.
His clients include Chambers of Commerce, Business Improvement Associations, economic development associations, and shopping centre associations.
Prevost has presented more than 100 workshops, and has over 25 years’ experience in marketing, wholesale, retail, and manufacturing.
This workshop is useful if you’re:
•keen to learn how to network within the community;
•seeking ways to “wow” customers;
•competing with business neighbours;
•interested in taking your business to a whole new level; or
•looking for information regarding the “Future Customer.”
This event is sponsored by the Fort Frances Times, B93-FM, the Rainy River Chamber of Commerce, and the Rainy River Future Development Corp.
Those wanting to attend should call 274-5484 or 852-3093 to register.
