Congregations mark Easter services

Christ the Lord is Risen today was echoed throughout community churches on Easter Sunday.
On Good Friday at the Christian Reformed Church, the sermon topic was “Our Father Clothed in Majesty.” During the offertory, a flute duet, “We are the Reason,” was played by Christine Bethune and Reta Dykstra.
Organist Thea Kaemingh also led the congregation in several Easter hymns.
Then on Easter Sunday, organist Marie-Ann deGroot, pianist Dianne Heerema, and flutist Diane Veldhuisen led the congregation in several hymns, including “Christ the Lord is Risen Today.”
Reading scripture during the service were Marlene Vlach, Marie-Ann deGroot, Peter Bosma, Carol Kaemingh, Yvonne Veldhuisen, and Peter Osadchuk. The sermon topic reading by Jack Wielinga was based on “Holy Power Unveiled.”
The evening service at C.R.C.was led by CSSM rep Mark Mast. His sermon topic was “He Is Risen—Now What?”
Calvary Baptist joined with the Barwick Community Church for Good Friday service, with the guest speaker being Pastor Andrew Hall. Afterwards, lunch was served it the lower hall.
On Easter Sunday, both congregations held their own service.
Knox United held its annual Maundy Thursday service, then joined with Guthrie United for a Good Friday service in Devlin.
The churches celebrated their own Easter services on Sunday.
St. George’s Anglican held its Maundy Thursday service, then took part in the stations of the cross walk on Good Friday. On Saturday, they shared the Easter Vigil with St. James Anglican Church of Rainy River.
They celebrated the Holy Eucharist and baptism on Easter Sunday.
And St. Patrick’s Church in Emo held its regular Easter services, starting last Thursday and going through Sunday.
