Competitive fishing summit planned

The Ontario Competitive Fishing Council is pleased to announce an information session and roundtable discussion will be held for organizers of competitive fishing events from across the northwest this spring.
The OCFC meeting is scheduled for Saturday, April 28 from 1-3 p.m. at the Dryden Recreational Complex during the annual Spring Home & Trade Show.
“We’re really excited to have the opportunity to meet with competitive fishing event organizers from Northern Ontario,” said OCFC president Rick Blasko.
“It is important for all organizers to be aware and understand the issues associated with competitive fishing throughout the province,” added Blasko.
“This meeting will provide a great opportunity for networking and the sharing of ideas and concerns.”
Three OCFC directors will provide a brief history of the organization, noting accomplishments and current status of the work done over the past four years.
They also will present recommendations regarding tournament guidelines, recommended codes of behavior for tournament organizers and anglers, as well as a working draft on creating rules for competitive fishing events.
The directors are anticipating an energetic, positive, forward-looking sharing of ideas during the roundtable session.
The OCFC is a pro-active, not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to gather and share new information, develop industry-supported guidelines for competitive fishing events, address public concerns, work with local, provincial, and federal governments to ensure the future viability of competitive angling in Ontario, and promote fishing in general.
