Community rink lands heritage grant

Good news to report regarding the Crossroads community rink—approval has been given for funding to come from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
However, work has been moving along even while waiting for approval of the grant. The gravel base for the rink pad already is in at the school, and tenders will be out shortly for the concrete base, rink boards, and rink shack.
Volunteers hopefully will show up for the remainder of the work in order to see this project to completion. It’s looking like the rink will be finished this fall.
In related news, another fish fry and ball tournament are in the works in order to raise more funds. And a reminder the next meeting of the rink committee is today (Feb. 5) at 7 p.m. upstairs at the municipal office.
