Cobras strike for pair of wins

The Emo Cobras crossed sticks with Emo girls in recent Emo-Devlin-Barwick Minor Hockey Association action, whitewashing the gals 6-0.
Devin Ball, James Saunders, and Ryan McDowell all scored in the first period, with Jonny French and Saunders hitting the twine in the second frame.
Keith McTavish rounded out the scoring in the third.
The Cobras then blanked IBEW (Fort Frances) 3-0, sparked by McTavish’s two goals (Emo’s other sniper was not recorded).
Meanwhile, the Emo Thunderbolts skated away with a narrow 3-2 victory over the Mustangs (Fort Frances) thanks to Ryan Kaemingh’s hat trick.
Chris Bobczynski and Donovan Cousineau replied for the visitors.
Two days later, the Thunderbolts once again slowed down another Fort Frances team, this time by a 3-1 count.
Colin Kaemingh (two) and Cody Drennan scored for Emo while J. Bruyere netted the lone marker for Fort Frances.
In Bantam action, the Emo Predators welcomed Southend Stars for a friendly contest and were beaten 7-1.
Robert McColl (three), Michael Russow (two), Stephen Raynak, and Matthew Hunter all scored for the Stars while Jon Rolston bagged the home team’s only goal.
But their second game against Fort Frances was a 3-2 victory thanks to goals by Ashley Woolsey (two) and Jon Rolston. The visitors received help from Michael Monkhouse and Brett Legarde.
Then the Predators third game against Wal-Mart (Fort Frances) was another 3-2 squeaker. Charlie DeBungie, Mike Badiuk, and Rolston led Emo this time while Nick Ashworth and George Ossachuk replied for the visitors.
It was a different story in their fourth contest against the Oddfellows (Fort Frances), with the visitors coming home with a 3-1 victory on goals by Logan Allen, Tyson Grinsell, and Matt Herbert.
DeBungie saved the Predators from a shutout.
The Emo All-stars never let up against visiting Holmlund’s (Fort Frances) right from the opening face-off, scoring seven first-period tallies en route to an 11-1 romp.
Terry Carmody led the attack with four goals. Emo’s other snipers were Chris Mutz (two), Jack McTavish (two), Matt Badiuk, Cole Benjamin, and Ryan Witherspoon.
Matt Hebert netted the lone goal for Homlund’s.
And in Midget action, the Emo Cowboys edged the OPP (Fort Frances) 4-3. Emo’s goal scorers were not listed while B. Starling, Scott Galusha, and Wreggitt replied for the visitors.
