The mechanical breakdown of a CN train resulted in the closure of all crossings in the Township of Emo for more than 2 hours on Sunday evening, according to a release from the Alberton, Chapple, Emo and LaVallee Fire and Emergency Services.
The breakdown took place at approximately 7:30 p.m. All crossings were blocked, including the 602 crossing, according to the release. The train was cleared from the area at 10:05 p.m., with all crossings re-opened. Emergency Services and CN were on the scene to mitigate the situation. According to emergency Services, contingency plans were in place, in case of an emergency.
The Times reached out to CN for comment, but the company did not respond as of press time.
