Church offering food boxes to needy

FORT FRANCES—Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them and lift them up forever. (Psalms 28:9)
As part of its mission to reach out to fellow community members in need, the new Community Care Ministry at the Apostolic Way United Pentecostal Church here is offering “a helping hand in a time of need” in the form of monthly food boxes starting this Sunday (Jan. 7).
Pastor Sean Ward said the church has prepared 25 food boxes to be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis. And already, before the program has even started, there’s been interest shown by those in need.
The food boxes are available to anyone. No one will be asked to fill out any paperwork nor be required to demonstrate a need, stressed Pastor Ward.
This service is “non-invasive,” meaning that when you pick up your food box, you will receive a genuine Christian greeting, your food box, and an informational brochure to take home and read in the privacy of your home, he explained.
There’s “no strings attached.”
These boxes are filled with enough items to provide about five meals to a family in need. The food consists of non-perishable food items, as well as fresh bread and/or buns donated by a local distributor.
Food boxes can be picked up on the first Sunday of every month at the Apostolic Way Church (located at 1345 Emo Rd.) between 5-6:45 p.m.
