At a recent meeting of the board of directors for Heartland Christian Broadcasters Inc., a good deal of time was spent discussing future opportunities for this ministry at KBHW, station manager Bruce Christopherson said.
“We are vision-casting, looking at ‘what if’ possibilities,” he added.
“There are those things we could do to maximize the spread of the Gospel through this ministry if we didn’t have to worry about such mundane things as practically, regulations, and money.”
As a group of committed believers assessing the missions of KBHW and KXBR, Christopherson said they are considering how the tools and assets they already have can be best used to advance God’s purposes.
“And what could we do additionally if we had certain resources or capabilities,” he explained.
It’s an exciting exercise and will serve to focus this ministry to prepare for the changes which inevitably come, Christopherson stressed.
“If the Lord tarries, will KBHW still be able to effectively minister to your children and grandchildren 10 or 20 years from now?” he wondered. “Or will today’s FM broadcasting be as irrelevant to daily life in 2020 as 8-track tapes or vinyl LP’s are today?
“We want to make sure the old story will continue to be told as new methods change the way people hear [it],” he added.
As KBHW has been built and supported through the years, it has, in many ways, been left as a legacy to this generation.
“I often meet and see notes from those who had the first vision for Christian radio here,” Christopherson said, but there are many now with the Lord who only saw the early struggles.
“Their sacrifice and vision have served you and I well for 20 years,” he added.
