Chlorine leak at Emo water treatment plant

Staff

The Alberton, Chapple, Emo & La Vallee Fire & Emergency Service responded to a chlorine leak at the Emo water treatment plant yesterday morning, and thankfully was able to contain the emergency to that facility.

At 6:35 a.m., the Emo fire station and one platoon from Chapple fire station responded to reports of a chlorine leak at the plant.

The team initiated isolation zone protocols and activated their pre-plan with allied agencies CANUTEC and OCWA.

The situation was quickly mitigated.

The emergency was confined to the plant, at no time was the general public at risk.

OPP assisted with area isolation and paramedic services were on scene for standby coverage to protect personnel as standard protocol.

The incident was terminated at 9:10 a.m.
