From the OPP
On Saturday, members of the Rainy River District OPP responded to a report of a domestic dispute in Chapple Township.
Upon arrival, officers learned the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle in the company of a three-year-old female.
Officers then requested an Amber Alert through the OPP’s Provincial Operations Centre.
Officers received information on the location of the suspect, effected an arrest, and located the child in good health.
The Amber Alert subsequently was cancelled.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old Brandon, Man. man was charged with three counts of assault, one count of choking to overcome resistance, and one count of mischief.
He also was charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and driving a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg.
As well, the man was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with failing to properly wear seat belt and novice driver-related offences.
He was schedule to appear before a Justice of the Peace via teleconference yesterday.
