The local Masonic Lodge will be showcasing its child identification program during the Emo Walleye Classic on Friday, May 29 from 1-6 p.m. and again on Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
The “CHIP” program allows parents to create a kit of identifying materials for their child, free of charge.
The kit contains a fingerprint card, a physical description, a video, computer disk or DVD of the child, a dental imprint, and a DNA sample.
The purpose of the kit is to provide critical information to the public and to law enforcement in the event a child goes missing.
If you are interested in creating a kit for your child, watch for additional information prior to the EWC or contact Ken McDonald (483-5460), Dan Johnson (852-3695), or Allan Tibbetts (274-6689) for more information.

This month’s men’s breakfast will be held Saturday, May 16 at 8 a.m. at the Emo Legion. The buffet breakfast still is only $10.
Pastor Conrad spoke at the breakfast meeting five months ago, just before Christmas. He shared then how God was blessing their family in such abundant ways.
But just 38 days later, during the night, when the temperature dropped to minus-35 degrees, Conrad, his wife, Lois, and their four young children found themselves, at moment’s notice, escaping from their house, walking (some of them barefoot) down the laneway, away from their house, looking back only to see all of their possessions going up in smoke.
What does this do to the faith of a young man? Come and listen!

Seventeen local seniors and older adults attended the free “Drive Wise” seminar presented on Monday (May 11) by Fort Frances OPP Cst. Anne McCoy.
The Rainy River District Safe Communities committee, in partnership with the Northwestern Health Unit, sponsored this driver refresher program for mature motorists.
Communities in Ontario have hosted the “Drive Wise” education seminar for the past eight years. This 45-minute presentation provides valuable safe driving strategies for Canadians 50 years of age and older.
Those on hand were offered tips and techniques on driver safety, new laws, and ways of adjusting to their age-related limitations.
The goal of the program is to assist mature drivers in maintaining their independence and keeping their driving licence as long as possible.
More information can be found at www.drivewise.ca
If you are interested in attending a future presentation, contact Cst. McCoy at the Fort Frances OPP detachment.
