Rainy River First Nations (RRFN) held their election on Friday and a new chief and council has been decided by band members.

Incumbent chief Robin McGinnis was re-elected, beating out Kimberly Detweiler (Bombay), who also ran for the position.

Meanwhile, incumbent councillors Willie McGinnis and Gary Medicine won the popular vote to stay on council.

RRFN council will also welcome three new faces–Coun. Karen Oster-Bombay, Coun. Leona McGinnis, and Coun. Jason Wilson.

The First Nation’s election is held once every three years.
