Chapple planning for fun on July 1

Start waving your Maple Leaf flags, Chapple is set to run its Canada Day celebrations again this year.
The July 1 festivities will kick off at 9 a.m. with a fastball tournament at Barwick’s ball diamond.
Returning for another year is the kids’ parade, as well as the one featuring cars, which will begin at noon.
Registration starts at 10 a.m. at the municipal office, with judging done by around 11:30.
Prize categories for the kids’ parade include best Canada Day theme, most original costume, best decorated bike, best decorated motorized kids’ toy, best costume involving an animal, and best “going green”-themed costume.
Following the parade, kids’ activities will take place starting at 1 p.m.
Entries from an earlier poster colouring contest for children will be on display in the ballpark area.
Meanwhile, there’s always room for more volunteers to help out for the day, said Chapple deputy clerk/treasurer Crystal Gray.
“We’ve got the contestants for the Emo Fair Queen that are volunteering and helping out this year, which is fabulous, and then the regular community volunteers that help out,” she noted.
“But the more, the merrier!”
