Two separate celebrations either took place or are taking place in our area.
The first was the celebration of Pam and Murray Carlson’s 30th wedding anniversary. A family meal was enjoyed Saturday at their home.
Congratulations to the two of you from your community.
Meanwhile, another celebration is the birth of Jocelyn Brook and Janelle Rose, the twin girls who were born to Jeannie Sheppard and Paul Allan.
The very proud—and relieved—parents brought the pre-mature babies home last Saturday from the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. They were released much earlier than expected.
A baby shower is planned for this Sunday (June 22) from 2-4 p.m. at the Emo Legion. Drop by and see the girls.

Devlin slo-pitch results from last week saw Good Vibrations down Variety Pack (June 9), the River Rats beat the Blue Zones (June 10), the Village People upending Upnorth (June 11), and the Brew Jays topping the Jokers 22-15 (June 12).
If you want the scores published, mention them to Laura, otherwise I’ll just print the winning team.

The draw for the fly-in fishing trip will be made on the Sunday of the tournament. Be sure to purchase a ticket if you haven’t—or double you chances and buy another one.

A gate contest is being held in conjunction with La Vallee’s upcoming centennial year. Those interested are asked to erect something at your property entrance that tells people who lives there, the history of the property, or a welcome sign—let your imagination loose.
Create something and contact the municipal office with your name and address. Organizers are trying to get three independent judges who are not in a conflict of interest by way of relations, etc., but that may be difficult as our district seems to be a very large family.
Prizes will consist of a history book and cash. There are no categories for the signs, but some suggestions from the committee include historical, eye-appealing, and original.
Get busy—the deadline to enter is Aug. 31.

It’s hard to believe but the last day of school for elementary students is next Wedensday (June 25).
Remember, Scrap-A-Bit is a great way to entertain your kids—or a great way to have some time away for yourself. Be sure to check out their calendar of events.
There will be a weekend crop June 27-28 (there will be no charge for this).
