Don your kilt and join the lads and lassies at Old Fort William Historical Park as they celebrate spirited Scottish traditions during Scottish Days, Saturday, Aug. 4 to Monday, Aug. 6.
Join in the fun this long weekend as the Fort pays tribute to the proud Scottish fur traders who operated Fort William and the North West Company in 1815.
Everyone is invited to try their hand at traditional games including the caber toss and “putting the stone” at 11:15 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Local pipe bands perform in the Main Square at 12:30 p.m.
Events take a bit of dramatic turn when two fiery Scots face each other for a duel in the Square at 2:15 p.m.
Once tempers simmer down, samples of the Scottish delicacy, the haggis, will be served in the Main Square at 3 p.m. Highland dancing is also featured in the Square at 3:15 p.m.
Be on hand for “Highland Tea” in the Great Hall at 4 p.m., featuring Scottish songs, stories, music, tea and scones. There is a small admission fee to the tea.
