Cause of house fire still being probed

The exact cause of a fire that severely damaged a house on Stewart Road in Alberton early Saturday remains under investigation by the insurance company, Fire Chief Cory Jewell said Wednesday.
But he said he believes it stemmed from an electrical problem in one of the home’s exterior walls.
The fire was reported at 12:37 a.m. on Saturday, with firefighters arriving on the scene shortly afterwards to find it was well underway, Chief Jewell said.
Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours, and didn’t leave the scene until around 6 a.m.,” he added
“Most of the outer structure was saved. But it’s pretty much a write-off due to the water and smoke damage,” Chief Jewell remarked.
The occupants were home at the time of the fire, but all escaped the premises without injury, he added.
