The Northwest Catholic District School Board will make a decision tonight on approving a donation of $4,400 to the Fort Frances Multi-Use/Tennis Court Committee.
The donation would be in addition to the in-kind use of the land previously committed and be used to support the completion of the multi-use tennis courts.
Director of Education Rick Boisvert received a letter from the Chair of the Multi-Use/Tennis Court Committee, Rick Wiedenhoeft, on April 21 that updated the Board on the project and requested a financial commitment.
At its October 2016 meeting, the board entered into a longer-term multi-use partnership agreement with the Town of Fort Frances and the Rainy River District School Board to allow for the in-kind use of the land at the St. Francis Sports Fields.
During that meeting they also supported the examination of a financial commitment.
Wiedenhoeft’s letter outlines a shortfall of $4,398 for funding and asks if there is any possibility of a financial commitment for the completion of the courts.
Also at the 6:30 p.m. meeting tonight, trustees will:
•review the 2017 School Lenten Report and the Catholic Education Week report;
•recognize the exemplary dedication of four staff members and two students at St. Joseph’s School;
•examine the Progress Report of Student Achievement in comparison to the previous year;
•decide on increasing the contract amount with Colliers Project Leaders on the new school build to account for the one-year delay in the schedule; and
•approve funding the cost of Project Management Services provided by Colliers Project Leaders using some of the board’s accumulated surplus.
