The Emo Rec. Council held their car wash and hot dog sale Friday at the Fairway Store parking lot site.
The five dollar cost included a hot dog and pop, with the proceeds going to community projects this summer.
Coordinators Jeff Cross and Christine Schulzki, assisted by Ashley Cross, were on hand for the event. “We had approximately fifty cars washed and fifteen people taking part in the fundraising hot-dog and pop drive,” noted Schulzki. “It was a great day for a fundraiser.”
Upcoming events arranged by the Rec. Council include: Friday, Aug. 4 at Lions Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.–3 on 3 basketball tournament (fee $5) per player. Forms for participation to be handed in at the Emo Municipal Office by Wed., Aug. 2.
This event is for those 8-10 years, 11-13 years, and 14-17 years. A canteen will be provided and all players will receive a free lunch at noon.
Also, in-line skating and roller hockey will be held at Emo Arena every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for a $2 fee. Register at the municipal office.
Kids activities based on a theme for the day which began Wed. July 26, will continue on Wed., Aug. 2 (Dinosaur Day), and Aug. 9 (Space Day). Times are 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. for ages three to six and 1-3 p.m. for ages 7 and up.
The activities will take place at Lions Park in Emo, but if it should rain, it will be transferred to the Emo Curling Rink.
“There will also be a Teddy Bear Picnic on Wed. Aug. 16, to conclude the summer programs,” noted Schulzki.
