Canada Day celebrations will be held July 1 in Rainy River’s Hannam Park, from noon to 4 p.m. Rainy River Rec staff have organized a number of family events, including cornhole, a scavenger hunt, water balloon toss, bike decorating, horseshoes, crafts and games. A Walk in Honour of the Children will be held July 1. Open to everyone. Allies welcome. The event is being organized by Couchiching First Nations. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. at the Sorting Gap Marina, and end at the Indian Residential School Memorial Site located in Agency One. A grab and go lunch will be provided, and water stations will be set up along the route. All hand drummers and dancers are welcome. Orange shirts or ribbon skirts are encouraged. The Fun in the Sun Committee announced the cancellation of Point Park Canada Day events. Fireworks have also been placed on hold for the Town of Fort Frances.
